Sources & credits
AniRanking stands on a lot of public data and communities. Below is what we use from each source and under which terms. All data is stored in our own database by scheduled jobs; pages never call these sites while you browse.

Title information, ratings and comments
- AniList: title metadata, tags, covers, scores, plus public English reviews and forum posts (for sentiment), via AniList's official public GraphQL API.
- Bangumi: scores, Chinese titles and synopses, covers, and public comments and blog posts (for sentiment), via its public API.
- MyAnimeList: scores, via the official MyAnimeList API.
- Kitsu: public comments (for sentiment), via its public API.
Ratings and comments belong to their authors and the original sites. We store scores, short excerpts of comments (with a link to the source) and the sentiment label that AI assigned, to compute the sentiment part of the score. We don't republish full texts.
Where to Watch: availability and licensing
- TMDB (The Movie Database): subscription, free, rental and purchase platforms per country. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- JustWatch: TMDB's watch-provider data is provided by JustWatch. Thank you, JustWatch.
- bangumi-data: ID mapping between sites and official streaming platforms. © bangumi-data contributors, licensed under CC BY 4.0. We read only the official streaming platforms, never torrent or piracy index sites.
- Wikidata and Wikipedia: licensor names and other facts, and IDs that point to ANN and TMDB. Wikipedia text is CC BY-SA, so we keep only facts (company names, regions) and a link to the article, never its text.
- Anime News Network: licensing and release news. We keep the facts (which platform, which regions, when announced), one sentence of the original as a quote and the link to the article; we don't republish articles, and crawling follows their robots.txt.
- Official announcement research: licensing for new titles is compiled by hand, title by title, from official announcements (streaming services' line-up news, anime websites and producers' announcements). Every record carries its source link and the date it was checked. Titles for which we found no official statement are marked as having no confirmed platform.
Availability can change at any time, and release dates are whatever the platform announces. Check the platform's page before you pay.
AI assistance
Public comments from the sites above are classified by Anthropic's Claude (very positive / positive / mixed / negative / very negative), and some comment excerpts are translated by Claude, to compute the sentiment part of the score and show it in both languages. AI can be wrong, so sentiment is only one part of the overall score and its weight is capped.
