What it is

AniRanking is an anime discovery site. Its home page is the current season's ranking. Browse the overall and category rankings, open a title to see its score, mood and content notes and where to watch it legally, or type a sentence about what you feel like watching and get the season re-ranked for you.

It is a personal, non-commercial project: no ads and no fees.

How the overall score works

The overall score is not a simple average. It blends three parts: site ratings (AniList, MyAnimeList, Bangumi and others, calibrated to one scale), fan sentiment (public reviews and comments, each judged positive or negative by AI and then summarised) and ratings from this site's users. The more evidence a part has, the more it weighs, and a thin high score is pulled toward the season baseline so it can't jump straight to #1. The full explanation is under “How is the score calculated?” at the bottom of every page.

Rankings are precomputed on a schedule and pages show the latest snapshot, so a change in scores shows up after the next run.

Titles that haven't aired yet have no overall score, only “anticipation”: their relative popularity among the season's unaired titles (how many people follow them on other sites). It is not a quality score and never counts toward the overall score.

Legal ways to watch only

“Where to Watch” lists official platforms only. No piracy links and no advice on getting around regional restrictions. Availability comes from public official announcements and data sources and is listed per region; what we can't confirm is shown as unknown, never guessed. A digital purchase is called a digital purchase, never permanent ownership.

Where the data comes from

Title information, ratings and comments come from public sources such as AniList, Bangumi, MyAnimeList and Kitsu; availability comes from researched official announcements, TMDB / JustWatch and more. Pages never call those sites while you browse: scheduled jobs store the data in our own database. See Sources & credits for the full list.
